United Nations' Universal Children's Day (Nov. 20) puts spotlight on children's rights to free education

November 20th is the annual Universal Children's Day, set by the United Nations in 1954 to spotlight the world's obligation to help children survive and succeed. This year also marks the 20thanniversary of the UN's Declaration of the Rights of the Child, designed to promote children's rights and improve their quality of life, especially critical in the poorest and developing nations. Among those rights is free and universal access to quality primary education.
